We woke up to a gloomy morning. Fog shrouded the mountains behind the campsite and visibility across the Nenana River Valley was next to nothing. As we got on the road a mist began which turned into rain by the time we were halfway to Anchorage. As if to taunt us, there are at least two Denali viewing areas on the road from which you could see nothing but clouds. The ride today should have provided us with views of several rivers, the mountains around Denali National Park and, as we approached Anchorage, the Chugach Mountains. The weather cheated us of this view and kept us from taking photographs. We got into the campground and had to set up in the rain.

While this commentary may sound like a complaint, it is not. We have been very fortunate as far as the weather has been concerned. Since leaving Edmonton we have had some rain, but it did not materially interfere with our plans. Today was not wasted. We needed to replenish our food stocks so we went food shopping. Now if the weather turn better in the next three days, we will bring you pictures of Anchorage and the areas around it.
