One more night on the road and our Summer 2006 Adventure is over. We have mixed emotions about the end of the trip. Each of us will be happy to be getting home and standing still for a while. At the same time, we want it to continue. As they say, "reality stinks." The reality is that the trip will be over tomorrow afternoon.

Once again we left a campground before daylight. Our reason for doing that is that we wanted to arrive in Bellefonte, PA early enough to do some serious cleaning and pack as much as we can into the truck tonight so that we will only have to pack the refrigerated food at the trailer storage yard tomorrow. Today's trip was relatively easy until we got to the hills of western Pennsylvania. The climbs were no comparison of the western passes we had to travel through. While we could maintain our speed up the hills, it did require a lower gear and cost us a bit more in fuel. A few miles from our destination, near Duboise, PA, we saw a sign indicating that we were at the highest point west of the Mississippi River on Interstate 80. This high spot is at 2,250 feet and the highest spot we passed in the Rockies was over 8,000 feet.

Tomorrow should be a short day, under 300 miles and we should get home in the early afternoon. I will try to write up the last page of this journey tomorrow evening, but if I don't, look for it the next day.
