Final Thoughts

        

Commentary

We are off again. This time our "excuse" for travel is another wedding... this one on May 30th in Vancouver, BC. Not that we need an excuse because we had hoped to see some of the sights in the Pacific Northwest some time in the near future and the wedding provided a good reason for this trip now.

The trip will cover a lot of the roads we have traveled previously because that is the way west. Our first real stop is Yellowstone National Park and if we planned this right we will be ahead of most of the crowds. Vancouver is our next major stop and much of our time will be spent with family activities but there will be enough times to see some of the sights in the area. Our next stop is the Olympic Peninsula in Washington. We will spend our time exploring Olympic National Park and the coastal area. Our next destination is Canon Beach, OR where we hope to explore the northern coast of Oregon. We will then head to Portland and use it as a base to explore the Columbia River Gorge and Mount Hood. Having been told not to miss Crater Lake, we will go there next. Vacaville, CA, situated between Napa Valley and Sacramento will be our next stop. We have been in the Napa Valley area several times before and are not going so much for the sights but to visit some friends in the area. Zephyr Cove on the Nevada side of Lake Tahoe is our next, and really final sightseeing destination. After that we head for home with five stops along the way.

In all likelihood this may not be our only trip this summer. We will probably stay home in July and head out again in August. Where to... we don't know. However, it will probably not involve as much driving. Stay tuned...
