This has to be the easiest travel day we had on this trip. We slept in (for me that means getting up at 6:30am) and got a late start, leaving West Yellowstone at around 9:00am. The total mileage we covered is a little higher than the estimate above, but we still made Victor before noon.

The Teton Valley RV Park is a small facility about 3/4 mile west of the main intersection in town (the one with the flashing light). It has minimum service and erratic Internet access, but the setting is beautiful. The Teton Valley is on the Idaho side of the 8,000 foot plus Teton Pass and its counterpart, Jackson Hole, is on the eastern side of the pass. We wanted to find an RV Park closer to Jackson, WY but couldn't find one that had a good rating and was closer. There is an RV Park in the town of Jackson that had a fair rating, but looking at the Google Earth view of it disuaded me from making reservations there. It looked like a large parking lot behind a hotel.

We decided to do a quick check of Jackson and drove the 30 miles over the pass to the town. This town is a vacation destination year round with skiing, hiking, biking and a National Park to keep people coming. The downtown is loaded with retail stores including national chains like Eddie Bauer and Orvis. We didn't spend much time in town and intend on walking around in the next couple of days. One of the first things we saw was a full service supermarket, the first since we shopped in Minnesota, and decided to stop in to replenish our cupboard. We headed back over the pass in a light rain and dropping temperatures ( a 15 degree drop from Jackson to the top of Teton Pass). I have a feeling we will have a cold night, but probably not as cold as West Yellowstone.

This was our first good view of the Grand Tetons as we came into the Teton Valley from the West. The mountains reminded us of the Torres del Paine in Chilean Patagonia. Pictures by Susie
